"Whose Game Is It Anyway?"

I'm recommending a new book for young athletes and their parents. "Whose Game Is It Anyway?" by Richard Ginsburg, Stephen Durant and Amy Baltzell of Massachusetts General Hospital." The publisher is Houghton Mifflin. As the title suggests, the book explores the emotional investment of parents in their kids' sporting careers. The book is especially valuable in explaining why parents care so much about their children's achievements on playing fields. In a speech at Gilman School in Baltimore last month, Dr. Ginsburg spoke about this as well, saying, basically, it's inescapable. As parents it's in our DNA. That said, we can manage and channel our interest in healthy ways
